A Week of Thanksgiving…
I see the magic in everything when I have my eyes open – I live for that glimpse of beauty that lives all around us when we wake for moments, from the ordinary, and realize the extraordinary really does exist for everyone.
This has been a week of Thanksgiving and for me so much more than gathering with my family and friends, laughing, eating, playing games and just enjoying the serenity of the Arizona desert in the early stages of its winter majesty.
This has been an intense week of gratitude, of release, of completion and of new beginnings as my first book, You First was launched out into the Universe, or wherever the souls of written words fly when released.
I have felt raw, vulnerable, cracked open… I know this feeling emerges when what was once familiar (me before author) has fallen away and something, someone new steps onto this path of uncharted territory.
I am so very grateful (and I know I have said that so many times), but I have yet to come up with a better way to share that feeling, the fullness of support and encouragement, that love that knows no boundary, it is just … just there. Receiving it, saying yes to that overwhelming endorsement that has held me up this past year, is not always easy.
First there was the spark (the idea), then the fertilization (giving voice to the thoughts), writing down the words, then gestation and incubation (and oh, the morning sickness, the Braxton hicks of edits and rewrites, the weight of new growth within), and finally, the birth (launching this baby) and releasing her, letting her go, like sending your kid away to college and knowing that a new chapter awaits you both.
I’m left standing here with you all, wobbly, like a foal trying out its newborn legs, like oceanside when the waves recede and sand softens unbalancing you for just a moment.
I have crossed the threshold into a new phase of creative expansion and feeling a bit shaky, a lot emotional, but filled with excitement for all the possibilities laid out before me. Most of all, I am stoked that I finished! Excited that the next one is already in gestation, another is being fertilized and another has just sparked.
Can you feel it, the inexplicable joy that pours forth from the creative soul? I have watched myself push hard and back off completely, immerse myself completely in the creative process then bury myself under the covers of doubt. What a journey and I am THANKFUL for every easy, hard, ecstatic, challenging, joy-filled and terror ridden moment of it all.
Thank you for holding the space for me to share every week and thank you for keeping your doors open for my continued journey. You all ROCK!

Her experience includes being trained in the Harner Method of Shamanic Counseling and the Pachakuti Mesa Tradition of Cross Cultural Shamanism. She is a Graduate Teacher and Mentor with the Lynn Andrews Center For Sacred Arts and Training and has been the Administrator and Writers Guide for Writing Spirit, the School.
Vicki is also an Artist of the Spirit Certified Spiritual and Energetic Life Coach, a Graduate Mentor in the AoS program and a founding member of HeatherAsh Amara’s Warrior Goddess Leadership Team and Facilitator of the Warrior Heart Practice.
