Boundaries. We’re taught that they define us, keep us safe, and separate “me” from “you” like the fence around my yard. And in many ways, boundaries can serve an important purpose, like the guardrails on a winding road. They keep us from tumbling over the edge and give us a sense of safety and self-preservation.
But what if we take a deeper look? What if these boundaries are not as rigid as we’ve come to believe? What if boundaries are, in fact amoeba-like, flexible, can be changed or here’s another thought… they are simply illusions?
Imagine standing on the shore of an endless ocean. When you wade into the water, you feel the waves at your feet, your ankles, eventually around your knees. You can feel the sand beneath you, but there is no clear dividing line between you and the water. There is no distinct boundary where the ocean stops, and you begin. You are immersed. You are one with the waves, moving together in a gentle dance.
Consider this … could it be the same with us and the world around us?
As spiritual beings in human form, walking a path of heart on this earth, we are constantly flowing in and out of energies that extend beyond what we can see. Our bodies may feel like solid, well-defined forms, yet energetically, we are unlimited potential, aka boundless.
Think of your spirit as light, not contained within your skin or your bones, but radiating out and merging with everything it touches. When you see the world from this perspective, boundaries may fade into the background, and you might just find yourself part of a beautiful, interconnected tapestry, the sacred web of life.
Then there are the boundaries we put around ourselves, like the walls we build to keep our hearts protected? You hear a lot about that if you watch any of the Bachelor franchise shows. More often than not, these emotional boundaries are born from past experiences and are a way of guarding against pain. But each wall we construct keeps us just a little farther from love, from connection, from joy, from community, from our “tribe” and everything we want and need in this world.
It’s easy to confuse these walls with safety, to believe they’re necessary, but here’s some food for thought…what if releasing them allowed you to live more fully? What if, instead of boundaries, you trusted in the natural rhythms of give and take, flow and balance?
This doesn’t mean you throw yourself into situations that drain you or compromise your well-being. Instead, it means you lean into this idea, come to believe this inner knowing that deep down, you are limitless.
Boundaries are illusions, like the lines we draw in sand, only to have them washed away by the tide. Can you imagine a world where separation does not exist, and we let ourselves live in harmony with that truth?
We can dance in unity with all of creation and discover a freedom that lives within this idea that there are no walls, no limits, only an ever-expanding love of the universe and everything in it.
When you open your heart and soften your boundaries, you are, in a way, coming home. What I have come to realize is that connection, not division, is my birthright and I embrace it.
So, how about moving forward, you soften your walls, trusting that your soul will always know what’s right for you. Let’s embrace the idea that boundaries are just illusions here to remind us of what it feels like to come together again—whole, expansive, and beautifully connected.
I believe that every morning is a new beginning, an opportunity to sieze the day and celebrate it living to your fullest, embracing your truth, and sharing your light with the world… boundless and free.
To new beginnings.
