This week we are between a rare Black Moon last weekend and the coming Full Moon next weekend. The Black Moon (two new moons in the same month) silently slipped across my night sky like a quiet veil, cloaking the darkness in mystery and intrigue.
It whispered of new and unseen beginnings, of renewal and release. Space.com notes that the term is more a popular name than a scientific one, but I do love a good mystery.
I have heard of Blue Moons (two full moons in the same month), I was born under one, but the Black Moon was a new experience for me this month. What I learned about this phenomenon is that it invites me to pause in the shadows and to imagine what might be taking root beneath the surface of my visible consciousness.
There, invisible, but alive. In the stillness of the shadows, I am reminded that the unseen world around me is just as powerful as the world I can see as it is revealed to me.
This weekend I find myself in what Lynn might call, the luminous in-between, as Labor Day arrives like a bridge inviting me to celebrate the work of my own hands as their energy connects to the sweat of my working ancestors.
Most importantly, it brings me forward celebrating the worth of all our efforts, individually and collectively, honoring both the labor and the rest. I am reminded of the importance of giving and just as importantly of receiving, balancing the rhythm of my doing and my being in this world.
As you step out of the season of Summer into the colorful embrace of Autumn, pay attention to what you have created and built, what you have carried along the way, and what you may now be ready to set down, always with gratitude for the time spent and the gifts received.
In this space between the rare Black Moon and the radiance of the Full Moon coming next weekend, I can feel myself standing on a threshold of possibility. I planted the seeds of my coming dreams under the Black Moon and Labor Day invites me to honor that effort as the coming Full Moon offers me a chance to call forth the harvest of my dreams.
Can you see this pattern…the vision (seeds), the work, and then manifestation?
What intentions stirred deep within you in the shadow of last weekend’s Black Moon? What hidden desires or quiet longings surface as you envision yourself standing under that darkened sky? It isn’t too late to take yourself back there even in this time in-between.
What work needs to be done? Let this week in-between be a time of tending to your soul’s garden. Are there weeds of distraction growing there that need to be pulled out? Does your sacred garden need attention, watering, nurturing so the seeds of your heart’s desire can take root in the soil of your deeper purpose.
Every action you take is a prayer made visible, every breath of gratitude strengthening the soil in which your dreams will grow.
The Full Moon rising towards its completion next weekend will illuminate all that you have prepared, its light amplifying your best intentions. Watch as her magnificence illuminates the path ahead that might once have been mired in fog.
Let this week between moons be more than just a party or a pause, let it be a turning point, a celebration of our labor and the work of those who came before us, each generation working to build a better world for themselves and those who come after them.
In this space between darkness and light, where transformation unfolds, celebrate all you have done and all you will do as you walk your path with purpose, beauty, and love.
Be Safe, Have Fun, and Celebrate!
