Have you ever considered that the energies of giving and receiving go hand in hand?
I like to envision the infinity symbol when I think of this kind of exchange, give and take, back and forth, even in and out. Like they are the same current, moving in two directions at once. When you honor one and resist the other, the flow narrows, becomes stifled and slow. I see this like an energy that longs to flow but is instead, stuck in a pool of sorts, waiting on permission to move again.
Are you someone, who like me, is always giving and hesitant to receive, like we aren’t worthy of someone complimenting us or buying us a meal, or gifting us an amazing opportunity?
A friend once told me as I gifted her a small book, “Vicki, it’s no wonder abundance flows towards you, you are always giving it away.”
Giving comes easy to me, my time, encouragement, abundance, care, and wisdom. Receiving on the other hand, not so much. I tend to deflect compliments, decline help offered, and delay or even doubt opportunities when they are offered.
I think I heard too many times that, “It is better to give than to receive.” A simple statement passed down through generations that has the powerful ability to staunch the flow of Universal abundance.
What I have come to know is that “As I give, so shall I receive.” I have learned that there is a flow, just like my friend pointed out to me many years ago.
To receive is to stay in sacred relationship with the flow itself, sacred Ayni, or reciprocity. The Universe of All Possibility is always offering an abundance of ideas, help, grace, and beauty. When you open your heart and mind to receive those gifts, you allow for the circle to be complete. You give as you receive in sacred unison with the All That Is.
