A Quiet Celebration

life has a way of spiraling around

Today is the anniversary date of my parents wedding… I was an early birthday gift arriving three days before their sixth anniversary. Surprise!

Life has a way of spiraling around events and people, places and things. This has been a week of remembering for me; remembering me growing up, me as an adult, and now me as an elder in my family. Remembering mom and dad and how he always brought her yellow roses for their anniversary.

Next week is the anniversary of these Friday Food for Thoughts. Have they inspired you or provoked you, engaged you in thought, or encouraged you to do something new, maybe different?

What would you like to read about each week? Is there a subject or topic that you would like to read a story about, create your own story around, perhaps make beautiful art with?

I’d love to hear from you all as I look forward to new beginnings and badass outcomes like I wrote about a few weeks ago.

This past week along with the celebrations, memories, chocolate cake, and a peanut butter cup or ten, my Good Enemies decided to gang up on me and, not just with a whisper of doubt or criticism but with a full-blown inner-uprising that turned into a free for all with fear. Great birthday present, eh?

And yes, I still call them good enemies even when they are overwhelming, even when they seem to be colluding against me and blocking my journey forward. I still call them teachers as well, uninvited most of the time and certainly inconvenient last week, but teachers, nonetheless.

Short and sweet (as I am rarely at a loss for words,)😊is that looking back can be as dangerous as it can be rewarding. Dwelling in the bygone days is just a product of the presence of Time Killer and not a rewarding one. Remembering is a good thing, getting stuck in the memories with Coulda, Woulda, and Shoulda… Time Killers with no redeeming outcome beyond the leaking eyes.

What I have come to know is that with sleep (and an occasional peanut butter cup,) things do feel better. With my eyes cleansed and my heart cleared, it is time to step out on the path of the next year of my journey here. I choose to write on, to live on, to laugh with you all, and cry behind closed doors.

I hope you will join me on the journey. Here’s to more happy trails and sweet memories.
