AZ, Sleeping In, and Things That Might Make You Go Hmmmm…

AZ, Sleeping In, and Things That Might Make You Go Hmmmm…

“I have no right to call myself one who knows. I was one who seeks, and I still am, but I no longer seek in the stars or in books; I’m beginning to hear the teachings of my blood pulsing within me.
My story isn’t pleasant, it’s not sweet and harmonious like the invented stories; it tastes of folly and bewilderment, of madness and dream, like the life of all people who no longer want to lie to themselves.” ~
Hermann Hesse

This was a “hit home” quote that surfaced during my week of gathering myself and my stuff to head to AZ. The plan was to dream on the drive, write when I arrived in-between long needed visits with friends. I hit the wall of why’s and what for’s. I fussed around with the “daily” grind and thought, “I can do this here,” but then there is that “there,” that calls me when I am gone too long from it.

I read in DailyOm a few weeks ago that, “Real life most often happens during the in-between times, when we are not celebrating a special occasion.” I was in between coming and going, between doing and being, between what I was up to and what I was dreaming up to do.

Arizona can be a place that nourishes my creativity, fuels my inspiration, and gifts me with the simple pleasures of quiet solitude and fun friends. And then I arrive this week…

I love sleeping in here because it is so quiet, the doves and quail my morning alarm but 5:50 am, really? Not my idea of sleeping in but hey, I’m up, got a diet coke, and got about setting up the “to-do” list.

Surprise, surprise as Gomer Pyle would declare. The pond was out of water and the pump sucking air. Turned on the valve to auto fill (no idea how it got turned off) and went about putting the house back together after the last guest’s departure.

That is usually my first day here, re-setting… the house and me. Rancho Tierra gifts me with a re-setting of myself as well.”

So much crazy was lying in wait for me this trip that I got knocked off balance, held tight the “bad news when the AC wouldn’t come on and the back yard flooded, and there was a tear in my sheets that were put on upside down… I could go on, but in the end, I found laughter and fun in finding all that needed to be done. I made my list and I’m checkin’ it off so now… I’m just gonna plod along and keep smiling in the sunshine of everything coming up green here in AZ

Don’t want this Friday snack to turn into a poor cow story (I believe it is in Medicine Woman by Lynn Andrews if you want to read it). I’m going to make this week thought provoking, inspiration prompting, and a collection of things that might make you go hmmmm … for just a moment or two.

Enjoy these words from my teachers, friends, and me. And share them back to me or wherever you are reading this. Have FUN!

If you want to play along, grab your pen and paper and respond to anything that tickles your fancy, causes a knee jerk reaction, or plucks at your heartstrings.

Here we go…

Think about the path ahead, your Journey… are you being pushed by pain or pulled by vision? ~VLD

Try blooming where you are planted and stop resisting reality! Does this say to you, “Don’t worry, be happy”? Does it say, “Get off the shelf and get busy? Or have you just gotten enough nourishment to blossom after a long dormant period? ~Me

“Open what is shut and shut what is open.” ~Beth Beurkens

“Shed the past the way the serpent sheds it’s skin.” ~ Alberto Villoldo

“All are called, but few choose to answer. The call is to live a life of passion, purpose, and service. It is a call to awaken to the fullness of your potential and to use your unique gifts and talents to make a difference in the world.” ~Lynn Andrews, Medicine Woman

Can you say ‘yes’ to your calling? Are you listening? Ignoring? Don’t hear a thing? ~Me

A message from the Hummingbird… “You must master stillness, even in flight.”

“The call to adventure is the soul’s yearning for wholeness… It is the voice of the spirit, whispering to us in our dreams, urging us to step outside our comfort zone and into the unknown.” ~Alberto Villoldo

“Sometimes we must lose our minds to come to our senses.” (my week in AZ, 😊) found in my journal with source unknown.

Creativity is an essential part of our health, but it can get messy. (in my journal notes?)

“It requires two things, permission and stimulus,” ~Marcy nelson Garrison

Give yourself permission to pay attention, to be open to what is waiting to teach you. Then get creative and have fun (like with these prompts.) ~VLD aka Me

I hope you’ll take a moment out of your ordinary day and come play… you never know what “mind-blowing” message is waiting for your pen and paper.

See ya on down the flip side…
