Dreams are delicate things born out of hope, and desire, and air. They are as vulnerable and as fragile as a butterfly’s wings. They are easily crushed, hard to come by, and not always encouraged but ahhh…
Dreams have the power to fuel my journey into the future. They drive me forward like the oars of a boat. They are the building blocks upon which I build a life, yet I cannot physically feel them. They are my touchstones, the promises I make to myself.
Each new dream becomes a point of light to guide me, showing me through the darkness, the way to something greater than myself.
Last weekend another dream came true as virtual friends became friends in person. Genuine hugs and stories unfolded in a circle of writers united by words and dreams.
We all knew in that moment that we did not come to earth to live our lives alone. We need each other from the moment we are born. Hearts beating side-by-side and in tandem with the ticking of our internal clocks.
Live, love, work, write, hand in hand, this is the rhythm of our world. If we are to thrive, we must dance to the beat of our sacred drummers, and dance life together with others.
Sometimes there’s no hand to take ours, or to hold, but the heart beats on with hope, even alone. Held deeply, hope is never lost to us completely. It hangs on silently, by the finest and thinnest, the most delicate of threads, surviving somehow, just as we do, until we find our tribe, our people.
Hope brings us together, separate energies that together build us up. It ties us, secures us, and in hope, unites us all. We became each other’s touchstones.
Life is as beautiful as it is fragile. How often do we remember the interconnectedness of us all, how everything we do in life touches another as it echoes far and away, rippling through other places and other spaces?
We spent a glorious weekend writing, sharing, eating, dancing, painting, laughing, and even crying together, in community, harvesting hope from one another and sharing our dreams together.
May you find and connect with your tribe, virtually or in-person, touching heart to heart, souls shared in hope-filled dreams.
