Growth begins the moment we accept change instead of resisting it.
The one constant you can count on in this life is change. Our elders and their ancestors answered the question posed by their youngster’s asking why something is happening, by reminding them that, “The world is always changing.”
My physical therapist reminded me this week that I cannot compare what has been in the past to what is happening today. My “good enemy” Comparison keeps dropping in for a visit every time I try to measure my progress by my past knee surgeries.
Today Sarah reminded me that my achievement and progress memories from past surgeries, don’t compare to what I am doing today. It is a different time and place. What a great reminder that without change, no forward momentum is gained, and I would just be stuck mulling over what was, instead of concentrating on what can be now.
I got reminded by a “youngster” in my world, that when those ‘good enemies’ of Anxiety and Overwhelm come calling, I just need to adjust my point of view to one of gratitude. To be thankful for the opportunity to walk body strong again, even if it is taking longer than I expected it too. Then she reminded me that I did take a tumble, and I needed to cut myself some slack, just keep thinking positively about the process and work the plan.
I got a dose of my own medicine and a reminder to change my point of view in order to change the outcome. Remember, every change carries with it hidden opportunities and golden moments that are there for the taking.
What current changes in your life could be the next steppingstone forward toward something greater for you?
This week I am reminding myself to step into trust and faith knowing that the Universe is always working in my favor, even when the path ahead isn’t entirely clear to me.
I’m going to lean into change with an open heart and welcome it with optimism and joy. Each day I will take one small action that helps me move closer to embracing and even celebrating, getting stronger and healing: body, mind, heart, and soul.
What change might be working in your world as a catalyst for your personal growth and evolution?
Not pumping iron yet, but I did make ten minutes on the stationary bike. Yeah! Small victories lead to big wins.
