Face Everything And Rise (aka FEAR)

Face Everything And Rise (aka FEAR)

I hear myself sometimes, in conversations with others and sometimes just with my own self, and I am amazed at the great advice I give and fail to practice. Does that ever happen to you?

Just the other day, I was talking about an issue that could stir up the depths of fear in any sane person, and I’m not too sure it wouldn’t scare the bejeezus out of the insane. I heard myself tell my friend, that she could live into and attach herself to that fear or she could simply witness it, acknowledge it, and make a conscious decision to live on with the knowledge of what that fear represented for her. She could choose to live or to live in fear. Been there, done that more often than I would like to admit.

Facing your fear can be an incredibly challenging experience, but it is also one that can be incredibly rewarding. When you face your fear, you confront the thing that is causing you anxiety or discomfort, sleepless nights and chocolate cake binges. It is a challenge, and it is hard work to overcome.

As much as it seems like it would be easier to just “stuff” it and call it a day, or get on with it and get over it, when faced, looked straight in the eye and acknowledged, fear can lead to your own personal growth. Overcoming something that scares you will endow you with a new sense of confidence and pride for having taken up the challenge.

I’m not talking here about life threatening fear like facing down a roaring bear or a raging river. I’m talking about the kind that sneaks up on you in a shadow of insecurity, in the depths of a moment of lost faith, or in the dark of a should have, could have, or why moments. You know the ones I’m talking about. We have all had them, unless you have already attained enlightenment and are just hanging out here on this earth journey to brighten the world for others.

I have been going through piles of papers in my office to the distraction of my book edits and taxes. I found something I wrote back in 2019, before the world scared us (or tried to) in ways we had not imagined possible. I wrote, “I’m scared, and I know it is just about the unknown but just the same, I am still scared.” I had a knee replaced in 2017, replaced again in 2018, and revised in early 2019 in the middle of a remodel of a home we would move to in Dec of 2019. Did I mention packing my family’s life from the past 40 years?

Farther down the page, I remind myself that what I think, what I focus my time, energy, and thoughts on will happen… the power of my words and actions. Reading farther down that journal page, I find myself writing that I want to dream out loud and not hold silent all the things that are special to me. I don’t want to hold on to all the frustration and agitation that comes and goes in life. To hold them is to sacrifice my today or sour my tomorrows.

I read on and found that the message I received that day in 2019, was that gratitude is the best way to release fear and anger. I am reminded of the song I used to sing to myself on the way to events where there was always people and things available to knock me off balance. I would sing my take on Que Sera, Sera (whatever will be, will be… the future’s not mine to see, Que sera, sera.) And breathe…

This evening as I write about fear and worry and anxiety and letting it go and facing it and playing in the energy of “seeing” it and acknowledging it and shooing it away, I am hearing my dear friend whisper in my ear, “You are ok.”

I believe in the power of positive thinking and seeding the Universe with my dreams untethered. I also know that there is a fine line we walk in balancing the dark and the light in our lives, in balancing the positive and negative. When I catch myself in that “bitching” mode of negativity and judgement and realize what I am reinforcing to the Universe, I work hard to end it with positive thoughts and gratitude. Try it sometime and see how it works for you.

Thank you for the abundance in my world and for the beauty I am blessed to walk in, around, and through every day of my life. Aho!

In this equinox week of the growing light, may you all be brave and face your fears head on, carry a big stick, swipe them aside with a thank you for their lessons and walk in beauty on down the trail of your magical journey on this earth plane.

‘Til we meet again…
