Greenlights

GREENLIGHTS

I am just finishing one of the best books I have listened to (audio) in ages. I thought Wildflower by Drew Barrymore was entertaining and engaging, but GREENLIGHTS by Matthew McConaughey, awesome! His storytelling is magnificent, his poetic way of weaving his words together is magnetizing, and his insights and wisdom, more often profound than not.

“If all that I would want to do was sit and talk to you, would you listen?” MG age 12

It set me to thinking about how and what I write about and how and what I actually want to write about. It made me realize that writing really is what I want to do aka – Greenlight!

I have journaled off and on over the years. Every little girl at some point has a diary, did you? I think mine was pink with one of those tiny gold keys that kept its secrets. Alas, it is somewhere in the ethers but not on a cloud I can reach back into.

When I joined Lynn Andrews Mystery School, journaling was recommended, encouraged, part of the tasks that we were expected to at least try. I kept a dream journal beside the bed and I wrote on “journal pages” but mostly I was just repeating my days, my woe is me moments and the hopes of better things to come.

It wasn’t until third year that journaling gratitude became a daily assignment, a life perspective changer if done seriously. Some days I was just grateful for a diet coke, others for that commission check, or a hug, or walking away from a car crash, or breathing on a day when it felt like the world and grief and madness would choke the very breath out of me.

Lately journaling has been calling me back, or are all those journals on the shelf behind my desk, written back ages ago, calling be back to them?

This weekend I am participating in a another “In a Weekend” class with Donna Kozik. I don’t know that I ever told you all, that it was her suggestion that I start writing to my tiny email list. That is how these Friday Food for Thoughts were born and here we are 19 months later, still writing – Greenlight!

Last weekend it was Journal in a Weekend. We learned to create, format, and make ready for a publisher, a journal. I hope many of you reading this have taken advantage of the simple pdf journals I have made available over the past year and a half. This one (or two or three) 😊so many possibilities, will be for printing, publishing. It will be one for anyone to record, remember, realize, recognize, gather your thoughts. As Matthew would say, “… a place to jot down what has moved you, turned you on to life…”

I’m curious, what might be the one you would write in:

  • How to have less stress?
  • How to get what you want?
  • The meaning of Life?
  • How to be more You?
  • Daily Inspiration or journaling prompts?

I would sincerely appreciate it if you would take just a moment to hit reply and let me know which one (or more) of these strikes your fancy or perhaps, you are looking for something unique and haven’t found it yet. Please let me know

Many of you have heard of Julia Cameron’s morning pages, her journal and workbook. They are excellent references. I just received Melisa Pearce’s inspirational journal, Touched by a Horse. Loving it. Do you have a favorite journal?

I guess I have always been attracted to the spiral bound, blank lined and plain page journals. I often want to scribble when I write, images, shapes, symbols. What do you think?

Do you write things down to remember them, or to forget them?

I had not thought about that before listening to Greenlights. Most of my journaling has been in courses, schools, workshops, and events. I was a copious note-taker and doodler in school, and it carried over into my spiritual journey.

From a 2014 journal, I leave you with this message…

“Love structures life – teach love by the way you live! When you consistently come from the heart, you not only transform yourself, you transform all you meet. Be love!” Greenlight!

May the love, joy, and wisdom off all that is life, fill you and manifest great joy in your lives. May abundance dance with you and let your path be one of peace and ease.

From my heart to yours, happy trails.
