April is a birthday month for us celebrating my amazing daughter today and her wonderful husband earlier. I am twice blessed by them; a daughter I cherish and a son in law I wouldn’t trade for the world.
April is also a time when I tend to gather in. I think it is my time for feeling into what I am planting for the summer and what I am dreaming for the fall. It was a peaceful, busy and beautiful time in AZ last week and now, home in CA, I am back to work full steam ahead.
- Do you take time in your world to just ‘be’ for yourself or with loved ones?
- Where do you go to find that quiet stillness that replenishes the spirit and nourishes the soul?
As I watch the crazy world spin around me, I have come to cherish time with friends over shared meals and laughter, time with family, our animals, the land, and the magnificent skies of spring, both night and day.
Writing is one of the ways I stay connected to my creative soul, the one that sparks the flame of my dormant dreams and tickles the fancy of my curiosity. Painting soothes my spirit and the movement of brush over paper is often hypnotic as the paint runs its own course around the page.
- What do you do to keep yourself grounded, present in these chaotic times, and moving forward on your joyful life journey?
In my conversation with Sandra Ingerman about our upcoming show together, one of the things that really struck home with me was the simple statement she made, that we just need to “take little steps forward and not sit down in the dark.” She reminded me that there is always a way through when guided by our own spiritual light, strength, and power.
Sandra also reminds us that there are exquisite teachings waiting for we brave souls who are willing to let go and travel to the depths of our inner world to see what states of consciousness and ways of behaving need to be removed, transformed, accepted, acknowledged, or (and I love this term), dis-created.
We can transform hopelessness with love when we embrace the beneficial aspects of the darkness, learn from them, and remember who we are.
This is a big part of what we will be doing on the May 31-June 2 weekend in AZ. It is going to be a creative, fun-filled, magical weekend set up to offer you an opportunity to remember who you are. We will be using nature and our animal allies as sources of information and inspiration along with experiential writing, the shamanic practice of journeying, and creating sacred art. We still have four spots left if WRITING WITH THE WHISPERS ON THE WIND tickles your fancy.
And… MARK YOUR CALENDARS… Fall Equinox weekend I will be with Beth Beurkens in Diamond Springs, CA to co-teach a wonderful weekend: Journey Through the Shaman’s Door. If you are available that weekend and think you might be interested… Jump into the river of creativity and join us this fall for a sacred weekend in the fresh mountain air of the Sierra Nevadas.
Interested? Let us know by signing up on our interest list here. You’ll be the first to know the rest of the story… https://vickidobbs.com/journey-through-the-shamans-door
