Imagination and the World of Wonder, Magic, and Mystery

What happens when you cross a bullfrog with a dragonfly

Contemplate this one for just a moment before you start thinking, no way…

”I broke open a fortune cookie last night and found a $100 dollar bill.”

What will you do? Celebrate? Blow it off as a gag? Is it real? What is your first thought?

How about finishing this sentence… “I was just out walking my dog when I turned the corner and came upon _____________. You finish the story. Where does it take you? Can you pick up the breadcrumbs and follow this story through the halls of your imagination to a realistic, mystical, or traumatic conclusion? Whose voice is telling the story?

Oh, imagination, my friend, my companion, the sparkly rainbow unicorn in my life, the magical pixie dust that makes everything just tad more fun, where would I be without you? Life would be about as exciting as a moldy sandwich. Boring!

Picture a world without imagination. Don’t you think it would be like a party without cake, a beach without sunshine, or a cat without its majestic floofiness. Yikes! That’s just unimaginable!

My grandsons are wonderful storytellers although I must admit now, that I am way behind the times in the worlds of their imaginations. I used to follow right along ( when the Yukon was a submarine carrying them to school) and now their characters are as foreign to me as Hogwarts was before Harry Potter. What creative thinkers, game players, and magical human beings they are. And the greatest joy in my world right now is that they still want to hang out with their grandma.

Have you ever considered crossing a dragonfly with a bullfrog? Imagine it! Bet that frog could jump farther than any other at the Calaveras frog jumping contest. Once airborne, it’s wings would kick in and it would sail past the rest of the leaping amphibians in the game winning by leaps and bounds (pun intended).

Imagination… Do you embrace it in your world or are you still trying to move past that age-old adage, “Oh, it’s just your imagination?”

I took a journey to Mars years ago when it was so close to the earth that it rose with the moon, as big as the moon and quite red. It looked an awful lot like Sedona when I journeyed there. 😊

When you use your imagination, embrace it as real and alive and ready to co-create with you, you can make breath-taking art, write mind-blowing stories or music that transcends the barriers of heart and mind. Would you invent something so new, radical, amazing, and unheard of that it blows the socks off everyone?

Did you know that your imagination can be a healthy companion? Think about how you might imagine a journey in someone else’s curly-toed shoes and how that could change your perspective, perhaps even gift you an opportunity to understand and empathize with their story.

I bet you have gotten lost in a daydream or two at one time or another. It’s kind of like taking a mental vacation where you get to escape your current reality and travel to another one filled with unlimited possibilities.

Imagine the story that created the Matterhorn ride at Disneyland that ended in a splashdown and passengers soaked in glorious laughter and delight.

Imagination can be your friend, companion, study buddy, and muse. It fuels your curiosity and opens doors to infinite worlds just waiting to be explored.

Do you, can you, will you embrace your imagination and let it soar like the dragon-bull flying frog?

Let your imagination fuel your stories, the ones you tell yourself and the ones you share with others. Let it fly like a sparkle filled balloon in the sky that scatters glittering fairy dust all over the land when it explodes.

Don’t be afraid to add a good dose of silly, a cup full of magic, and a tablespoon of mystery to the mix and let your imagination bake slowly through the recesses of your mind.

You never know what wonders you’ll discover and how much joy you may sprinkle all over your life and even the lives of those you may never meet.

Turn it loose, toss the bridle aside and take the ride. Let your imagination run free.

Chasing rainbows and lollipops with ya’ll.

Happy trails through your imagination.

Grab your journal and favorite pen or just a blank paper out of the printer and turn your imagination loose for 20 minutes.

Share your story or gift your magical moment to the world by posting in the comments section of the thread. I’d love to hear where your imagination takes you in a spur of the moment journey… magic carpets are encouraged…
