Insights from Summers End and a Super Blue Moon

Summers End and a Super Blue Moon

I am feeling into this new energy of the Full Moon today as I write.

The gorgeous and powerful Super Blue Moon sure has been stirring things up over the last couple of days. I run back and forth between resistance and creative chaos, from project to project, from comfy chair to refrigerator, office to nap.

It is a time of new beginnings, and the water signs of Pisces are all emotional controllers bringing to the surface emotions I’ve been holding deep under the files labeled ignore. I start clearing up spaces and moving piles although I must admit that my recycle bin in the office is getting full. I am letting go of papers and words that no longer need to be a distraction for me.

I listened to a replay of a coaching session I had with a mentor and was shocked to hear something “new” that I had totally blanked from our conversation. “You are hiding behind your content, Vicki,” she announced.

“What???”

So this is a new revelation that makes so much sense in my creative chaos. Lynn Andrews used to remind me that “The beginning and the middle aren’t the hard parts; the end is where most people get stuck.”

It’s like I wrote last week, I do love the creative process and the beginning and even the middle are the most energizing, most demanding, and most rewarding when you see your thoughts becoming things.

But alas, who would have thought that all these projects are the great distractors from myself, from the inner work that so often gets set on the back burner to simply simmer while I chop vegetables or make jam.

So this week, I hung out with this Super Full Moon and I reflected on what it is that I need to leave behind as I move forward into the “harvesting” time of Fall. I took my journal outside and sat with her in silence under my cottonwood tree.

I wrote to me. I wrote about me. And I asked Spirit to whisper in the night wind the important parts of this journey of mine that no longer needed to be carried in my backpack. I wrote for me.

And then I came in and ran a tub full of lavender salts (and I have a 72” long, 28” deep soaker – did I mention I love water?) I gifted myself time to just be in that sweet water, to allow the bubblers to wash away whatever was clinging to “me” and that needed to go with the waning of this beautiful Blue Moon. I remembered that I was born under a blue moon and tonight was special in more ways than one. I was remembering me underneath all the layers of life and living, remembering who I came in as and who I want to return to being, clear, clean, and focused on the work at hand.

I am reminded that change (and the sacred pivot), are an inevitable part of life and that embracing it with gratitude can lead to profound transformation. This Friday morning, I continue to clear away the piles of paper and file these “started” projects in an order that I want to complete them. I am mapping out a path into 2024 as I step into the energy of the Fall of 2023.

I am ready to harvest all that I have planted knowing that each seed comes to fruition in its own divine timing and as I cultivate them now, one at a time, I will continue to nourish and fertilize the others until they too, are ready to harvest.

Are you in a place to make that sacred pivot?
