It’s Just the Wind… Seagulls, Sailboats, Squealing Kids and Kites

It’s Just The Wind…

It’s Just The Wind…

I’ve spent this past week going to sleep to the sound of the ocean waves rolling onto shore just a few hundred feet away. To sleep with the balcony door open, the night air and sounds of nature is the best “sleeping pill” any doctor could prescribe.

I write to you this morning from LaJolla, CA just north of San Diego where I have come to write and to meet my writing coaches in person. They have helped me so much and, to have the joy of sitting in a live circle with them, has me lit up.

What lights you up? What dream can you “feel” growing inside and just waiting for the right time and place to pop out and manifest as your reality.

For me this year, my intent has been to get out and go… to take myself out of my comfort zone and meet new people, go to new places, and meet myself as writer and voyager.

Today I walked along the beach and transcribed recordings of my dear friend and I chatting at Sesame Inn. She talked about the wind and how important it is to connect with the directions and the winds they each send.

Lynn shared her process of prayer, protection, and setting an intent and then moving into that still place by whatever name you call it. That place where you just listen to, but most importantly, you “feel” the wind.

Last night I walked out onto the beach with waves gently crashing onto the wet, city lit sand. I called in the wind. I called her to come and play with me, to teach me. I relaxed into the wooden beach chair I found placed just far enough away from the incoming kelp so as not to distract me from the wind.

And she came, a West wind, teasing my face with wisps of hair across my cheeks in an attempt to distract me from my quest. “What have you come to tell me,” I asked, “to teach me?”

“Tonight, it is just about patience,” she answered. “Tonight, is about you being still enough to feel my caress and not just be teased by it. “

I took a deep breath and let the waves carry me away with the wind. It felt like I think a seagull feels when it catches an updraft and soars.

I was light and full, billowing and brisk. I was the wind for just an instant and I saw how easily she could carry me away… into a dream, through my reality. Across hilltops, deserts, and mountain streams we drifted, and coming back was not an easy task. Seems I love to fly.

“Tonight, you have seen into my world of possibility. You have shared a vision of your possibilities my friend. Tonight, you listened.”

I am not yet sure what I heard last night nor am I ready to reach into that feeling and pull up some deep and profound message that would make me feel like “I did it!”

Tonight I am ready to go to sleep and dream with the wind as she whispers outside my open door and plays with the waves playing with the shore.

If you get a chance this weekend to spend some time with the wind, offer her a prayer of gratitude, create a sacred circle with your tobacco and sit for a few and listen. Let the wind get to know the dream that lies in the bottom of your heart and together, make a plan to manifest it out in your world.

This is the beginning of you soaring into 2024 on the wings of your sacred dream.

May your weekend be full of wonder and grace, sweet winds and the warm embrace of the dream that is growing inside.

Till we play together on down these happy trails or dance with the wind at the shore.
