Living into Gratitude

12.30.22 Meme Gratitude is when the soul says thank you

This is the last Friday Food for Thought for 2022. I write on this morning before New Year’s Eve filled with gratitude, thankful that I have lived another year.

I am filled with not only gratitude, but anticipation, hope and faith, curiosity, and optimism. I am grateful for the people in my life, for the joy that fuels my creativity, for my husband who shops and feeds me when I get lost in the world of words.

I am thankful for the teachings that are held in the depths of grief and the clarity that comes with looking deep within the recesses of my own heart, and for the song of my soul that I am able to hear in those quiet moments before the day speeds up.

I’ve spent the past several days working on the course I’m hosting this afternoon and feeling blessed and terrified for the opportunity to look forward into 2023 with all its possibilities, as well as reflect back on what has been in 2022. I am remembering the power of ceremony and celebration that comes in the presence of a circle of kindred spirits, and I am grateful.

Gratitude gifts me the opportunity to not only give thanks for what I have and have accomplished, but an equal opportunity to focus on the good in my life and how I can be the best steward of the abundance I am blessed with; my family, faith, friends, finances, fun, and I’m working on fitness.

It gives me pause to notice and appreciate the “stuff” I so often take for granted, like my beautiful family, food, clean water, friends, our little dog Darby, and even, the computer I write to you all on each week.

I am truly blessed and grateful for all those who have paved this road I walk and for this path I have chosen. Walking a path of heart means having an appreciation for all life, not just in this present moment, but for the ancestors who have shown us the way and gifted us with stewardship of the wisdom they have shared.

Walking with gratitude is not just counting my blessings. It is a continuous and intentional practice of paying attention and appreciating the small and simple things, the beauty all around me, and acknowledging the abundance already here and that which is on its way.

When I am truly thankful for what I already have and content with all that is, it is enough, I am enough. We are, each, and every one of us, enough in our own Divine expression of the One, God/Goddess, Creator of All that Is, and We are enough.

Wishing you all a safe and Happy New Year. May you always know the Peace, Love, Light and Joy that resides in and around you always and endlessly.

Many Blessings and In Joy.
