Looking Ahead, What Do You See?

Looking Ahead, What Do You See

What a roller coaster ride this past week has been…monsoon rains to cleanse the soul, and winds to stand within and relish their caress and movement around this space. 108-degree weather and warm evening swims. Lightning shows and hawks hunting, Jupiter shining a in star-filled sky, and then… not to be forgotten… the giant scorpion guardian at the front stoop to greet a late-night visitor, and the little bull snake that decided to be “seen” the other night.

Now that was a comedy of chaos when the little rascal decided to hide under the threshold of the screen door. Kathy had the great idea to put flour across the doorway so if it slithered out after we all calmed down, I would sleep better knowing if it left its hideout, I could just look out the window and see its track.  I opted for snake repellent instead, figuring if it wanted out, it would have to slither through the peppermint powder, leave its trail and take the message that it should stay outside the yard.

Remembering, reconnecting with old friends who I haven’t seen in years, emotions of every variety, shape, and form playing in and out of the energy fields of everyone present.

Celebrating the life of our dear friend Lynn Andrews and all the prep, and technology, and scripts, and wonderful people, and amazing words spoken with pictures that sometimes took my breath away or took me away to distance memories as smiles or tears showed up to greet each scene.

We had a wonderful gathering at my house. What a joy it was to sit around and visit, and eat, and share stories, and memories, to talk of the future and what it may hold, and who we might serve, and how that might look. The temperature cooled a bit, and we were able to share time around the outdoor fire and remember… I forgot the marshmallows.

This evening as I type, I am looking out my little office window here in AZ, at gray and white puffy clouds moving north to south across the western sky. I hear thunder and wonder if I am going to be blessed with another storm or if it will just be a beautiful sunset with all the colors of the sky playing with each other, as the sun sets between clouds?

Fall is upon us and even though that doesn’t mean cooler temperatures for a while, it can still plenty warm in Central CA this time of the year. It does mean that there is a slowing down on the horizon. Crops are being harvested and the final jars filled with the yummies of summer gardens.

There are fairs going on all around, their barns filled with animals raised by 4-H’ers and FFA kids hoping for a big win and good sale. Artists and quilters and canners and farmers, and manufacturers all bringing their pride and hard work for us to see. Grandkid trips to the carnivals and always the food, yummies for everyone’s tummies.

Slowing down, preparing for that time of hibernation that is just around the corner, and I am ready. I can feel the pull of creativity that blossoms in the darker days when the pool water is too cold to swim.

What will you do as the days shorten and the energy slows down?

What does Fall hold for you this year?

What lies on the path ahead?

Are you ready for something new; to write that book, paint that picture, shoot that perfect photo, or nestle in your sweats with the puppies or the grandkids, get a new kitten or cook something you never thought you would ever try?

Look ahead, toward all your possibilities?

Where would you like to go and what will you do along the way?

May this time of changing colors and slowing down gift you a new vision, and may you find your Creative Spirit bursting to play.
