Resurrecting Your Light
You are all divine beings of Light and your voices, your music, your truths, are fuel for the soul. Thank you all for the brightness and beauty you bring to this world…
I must tell you, when I thought about writing to you all today, on such a sacred and blessed day of joy and hope, I hesitated. Who am I to write to you about the Light?
And then…yesterday morning as I lay in bed in that space between dreaming and waking up, I heard a song I recognized from my childhood…“this little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…”
I woke up with that song running around in my head remembering the dream I was having and saw myself standing here holding a candle and ‘talking’ to you all. I could see the morning unfolding and growing brighter, and I woke up to This little Light of Mine.
God/Goddess/Creator, Great Spirit knocking at my door … how do you not answer that? So, I sat down to write to you, to be present in the coming Light.
I listened to Keith Urban some years back, say to one of the young singers on American Idol …” Some people sing and they have this attitude, “look what I can do”. Some people sing and they say,” look what I have to do.” When you sing, you say, “look what I GET to do”.
That’s how I feel about writing to you today…
Look what I get to do! Thank you blessed Universe!
I love what Oprah writes in her book “What I know for Sure”…
“It is an awesome gift to be alive on this beautiful planet. And I want my time here to be as bright as it can be… You lend your light to one person and he or she shines it on another and another and another”.
So… Are you all ready to crack open just a bit more today and let your Light shine brighter?
Isn’t that an awesome a concept…sharing our Light?
If you believe what you may have been told, and have come to know, that you are a child of the Divine, created in the image of God, the Creator, the Source of All that Is, then when I talk to you about Resurrecting Your Light, I am talking about you bringing forth a brighter presence of that Essence of The Sacred that you are!
In Acts 26:23 we are told that the Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would bring the message of Light to his people …
He shared his Light that others might shine a bit brighter themselves.
Can you feel it? Believe it? It’s like a candle (a Divine Light) that has been lit in each of us.
You wouldn’t put a candle under a basket or the bed. No, you put it on a candle stick or on the mantle to light up the room. Not only should we not hide our Light anymore, let us share our Light and ignite one another’s.
Our ‘candle’ is a gift of the love and light of our God/Goddess/Creator… that Great Spirit, Universal Source Light of ALL that is.
Not only does this candle not lose anything by lighting another’s, it grows even brighter in that instant of ignition.
Many of you know that I was blessed with a successful real estate career. It was a business that was very fulfilling at times and could suck the light right out of you at others. I was searching for inspiration to share today when I found a beautiful quote from a Realtor in Toledo, Ohio – Nancy Lohman. She asked, “Have you ever noticed how those who are most successful rarely mind sharing and teaching their “best moves”. It’s like lighting a candle”…
I thought to myself, you betcha, she’s got it.
I love it when just the right book shows up when I’m looking for something or I hear a quote that I want to write down. Like this one from Marianne Williamson…
“We are all meant to shine, as children do. And as we let our own Light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”
Imagine all the folks you know shining just a bit brighter and UNCONSCIOUSLY giving everyone around them permission to do the same!
Can you see it? Is your room just a bit brighter today knowing this?
When you are comfortable with who you are, you know you will lose none of your “Light” when you spark the Light of another; when you share your story, your successes, show someone else how you did it, how you got here, how you became the person you are today. When you share the good, the bad and the dark not just the Light… then we all see we are not alone in our struggles and stories.
Sharing your shadows defines the Light that you are now. For as many have said, without the darkness we wouldn’t be able to see the Light.
They define each other. That is where your strength will come, when you have risen from your own depths, whatever they may be and are ready to let your Light shine. This is when you realize that you are one with the God-ness in you and all life.
The Light of Source is not something that is outside of you. This Great Spirit is within you and part of you just as you are part of and within the Universal Oneness of All That Is.
You can share your strength, your Light with others, go ahead. Do it every day. The simple candle you carry, when shared, may turn another’s life into a multi-colored, roman-sized blaze of health, happiness, and success… or it may just make that little difference in their day, when it was needed most.
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more… to become more, you are SHINING brightly and believe it or not, it is contagious.
I don’t know about you, but that is one virus I wouldn’t mind catching over, and over again… The Light Virus.
All it takes for us to reach out and connect with the Presence and the Light of the Divine, is to reach inside our own hearts and shine the Light that lives within the center of our compassionate nature, toward all of humankind. When we mirror our light to the world, it is reflected back to us even brighter.
This then is the message I want you to hear on this most special of days…
Resurrecting YOUR Light, that sense of love and hope that resides within and all around you is a matter of choice. You can choose to break open the shell of YOU just a bit more, without fear of your Light being blown out because your flame will be growing. Don’t let the winds of fear and hopelessness blow out your Light. Put it on the mantle and light up the room.
What I know for sure… like Oprah, is that it is an awesome gift to be alive in this place today.
The Universal Source of All that Is, knows that I love the earth’s songs; the breeze rustling through the trees, the rhythm of the bird’s melodies, the drum beat of their wings and the waves of rolling thunder.
Here surrounded and permeated by your Light and the Light of all Your creations, I feel You. I feel life.
I know myself to be connected.
Great Spirit, is there anything you have created or caused to be, that can’t pour light and healing into me? When I think of the extravagance and the simplicity of all creation, I want to bend down and write the word YES in gigantic mirrored letters across the earth so YOU can see it reflecting the Light You shared with us back at YOU reflecting it back at us.
Thank you for igniting the spark in the beginning and for sharing the Light of All That Is with all of us!
I give you these words from Mother Theresa this morning …
“Go out into the world today and love the people you meet. Let your presence light new Light in the hearts of these people.”
REMEMBER… AS YOU SHARE YOUR LIGHT, SO SHALL YOUR LIGHT GROW BRIGHTER…
