“Change is not a disruption of life; it is the essence of life itself. When you meet change with open hands instead of clenched fists, you begin to see and feel it as a gift— simply a bridge on the path to the person you are becoming.” – You First
Change can feel like a whirlwind, spinning you away from the familiar. Yet, it is in these moments of upheaval that we can find opportunities to heal, to transcend out of the ordinary into the sacred, and grow.
When life as we know it shifts, it can feel like we are being swept into a storm as we lose sight of the ground beneath our feet. That is how my last many months have felt and writing about engaging with St. Illness (aka “stillness”) last week, has set my feet back on the ground and opened my eyes to a new way of seeing.
Healing from a major life event often requires surrender before success shows up. This has been my journey for the past week, surrendering and resisting the urge to cling to the remnants of “poor me” and waving goodbye to the last guests at my pity party.
Instead, I have chosen to trust that this discomfort is a necessary step toward a more balanced journey and stronger body. I walk through it knowing that the Divine Source of All That Is holds me steady, even when I get mired down in pain or pity.
I am taking time to ground myself and step back into practices that connect me to my own inner wisdom. I return to stillness when everything starts spinning and remember the beneath the chaos, there is and always will be, a still, quiet center within that restores my soul, energizes my heart, and keeps me moving forward on the path of my purpose on this earth walk.
Today I am remembering that healing and growth do not emerge in the comfort of sameness but rather like the butterfly must struggle to emerge from its cocoon, so must each of us endure the process of transformation and healing as we unfurl our own wings.
Once again, I am reminded of the good enemies that I must embrace as sacred teachers, knowing that they are pushing me toward the best version of myself.
Through all the tragedy and loss going on in our world, through all the chaos and change, let’s remember that this is not just a time of loss, it is also a time of becoming.
This week I am going to reflect on this change in my life with humble gratefulness and gratitude for the job it offers me to grow within this discomfort.
Is it challenging? Empowering? Both? I think all of it as I recognize that every shift, no matter how uncomfortable, has brought me closer to being strong in body, mind, and spirit.
Let’s step onto the bridge of change today, trusting that it is guiding us toward something greater. Walk forward with me, hands and hearts open and ready to receive the gifts waiting for us on the other side.
