Tinker Bell, Tall Tales and Their Teachings

All You need is Faith, Trust and a little bit of Pixie DustSeems the midnight musings continue this week as I play with my new friends Seriosity and the Squire of Silly. They tossed this bit of food for thought my way:

If Tinker Bell were to tell tall tales, what tall tale might Tinker Bell tell and what would her tall tale teach thinkers about life?

It got me to thinking about how, not just our fairy tales, but fiction, and even non-fiction and memoires contain stories that ring true to many of us, even when written in “fable” forms.

I’m thinking Tinker Bell might spin a tale something like this…

I started my day out dusting off my tiny wings. They hadn’t been out in the wind for several days and were itching for a flight up into the bluest of blue skies that lit up with the morning sun. Flitting my wings about like revving up the engine on a small plane, I grabbed my diddy-bag and headed out the door of my cozy workshop in Pixie Hollow.

Up, up and away I flew, twisting and turning, dancing with the clouds and dodging butterflies flitting about everywhere. It had rained early that morning and everything was fresh and vibrant, gray clouds off in the distance still showering the landscape with life-saving moisture.

Pulling a handful of pixie dust from my diddy-bag, I decided it would be fun to paint the sky after the storm. Using my glittery mystical dust and a delicate feather gifted me by a magical bird I call Bows (its feathers contained all the colors of the rainbow). I swung my feather left and right, up and down and there soon appeared a rainbow so vibrant in color and full of life that it caused flowers to bloom in every color imaginable even as the clouds danced in the sky to celebrate its magnificence.

In true Tinker Bell fashion, she very humbly claimed that it was all just a happy accident, the result of her playing with her Bow feather and dancing with the clouds.

What message might Tinker Bell be trying to convey to a reader of the story or one lucky enough to see the rainbow?

Might this be a beautiful reminder that our smallest acts of joy and creativity, kindness and care have unexpected and far-reaching, positive effects on all those who witness or receive them?

This story encourages me to recognize and be grateful for the everyday magic that we can all contribute to our world, no matter how small. I am grateful for the interconnectedness of our actions and the ripple effects they have in spreading positive inspiration and wonder throughout the world.

Just like in the mysterious world of Pixie Hollow hidden in that magical place we call Neverland, each of us in our own worlds have mystical talents and unique responsibilities that make the world a better place. The light in us all will spread across our lives and fill them with wonder and beauty, reflecting the magical wisdom of even a tiny teller of tales like Tinker Bell.

What tall tale could you share with the world today? Share it with us all here!

Brighten someone’s day with a giggle and a grin, add a splash of kindness and joy, and make the world a better place today.

Smiling and playing in pixie dust…
