WORDS heard on the Whispers of the Wind

Words Listen to the Ripples of the Water and Write with the Whispers in the WindDan speaking…“There was an old man who told me when I was a boy, that I should look at words like beautiful stones. He said I should lift each one and look at it from all sides before I used it. Then I would respect it. I think he gave me good advice…”

From the book Neither Wolf nor Dog by Kent Nerburn: Words are like little ideas that you can put together into sentences. The bigger ideas often found behind them create our stories, inspire and inform us, or they can be like weapons that can break a spirit, take your past from you or from someone else.

Seek to understand the “big idea” behind the words you use.

Know that you do not have to name everything for it to exist or to make it exist. Understand that the name you give it is the truth of that “thing” as you see it and not necessarily what everyone else will see. You make something what it is or is not, by the words you use and the way in which you use them.

Be careful with your words. Allow your truth to be yours without expecting it to belong to anyone else or even be understood in the same way that you intend it to be. It is quite simply put – your truth!

Write your truth as you feel it and allow others to do the same.

This past week has been wonderful and exhausting, uplifting and scary. I am here in Arizona just hours away from folks arriving for the Write with the Whispers in the Wind weekend.

I think I am ready. The house is coming together, the pond is flowing with fresh, clear water tumbling over the little rocky waterfall creating the perfect background music for us. The newly constructed medicine wheel came together better than I had imagined, and I am beyond grateful.

I have spent the last month stringing words together in scripts and meditations, exercises and adventures. Words that create pictures and images, that call in the imagination and offer inspiration.

I have written the truth of this journey as I saw it and know that each person coming here will understand and embrace them in a way that is perfect for them and the fulfillment of their own personal journeys.

Now I am, as I write this, conjuring up a celebratory release of all my expectations for the journey… as I open my heart to flexibility and flow, knowing that I have done what I needed to do, I leave the rest to Spirit and the Wisdom of the Winds.

May you all basque in the love and beauty of your own words as you send them out into our world on the wings of your truth and intent.

Listening to the Whispers of the Wind, I am grateful, excited, scared, and prepared.

In light and joy.
